The purpose of this action item is to gain direction from Council for Orono’s Residential <br />Recycling Services. <br /> <br />2. Background. Since 2007, Waste Management has provided recycling services to Orono’s residents. <br />Throughout the contract periods with Waste Management, staff has not experienced any negative <br />feedback or complaints about Waste Management and their staff have been easy to work with. However, <br />the contract will expire on September 30, 2019. The City Council may consider the two options <br />presented below: <br />A. The City Council may consider renegotiating a new contract with Waste Management for <br />Orono’s Recycling Services. <br />B. The City Council may approve the solicitation of bids for Orono’s Residential Recycling <br />Services. <br /> <br />3. Staff Recommendation. Staff recommends that council consider the two options presented and to <br />direct staff to proceed with the option chosen. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />The Council should consider one of the two motions listed below: <br />A. Motion to direct staff to begin renegotiations with Waste Management for a new contract. <br />B.
