Financial <br /> a. The cost to add a lean-to structure will be around 50% less than building a free <br /> standing structure <br /> b. Material costs on a lean-to type structure will be significantly less than on a free <br /> standing structure. Because we are able to use an existing outside wall, not mess <br /> with the soffits or overhangs, and only build 3 walls rather than 4, material and <br /> labor savings will be significant <br /> c. Landscaping around the new structure/soil stabilization costs additional funding <br /> needed <br /> d. Tree removal would be an added cost of approximately$1800 <br /> e. The lean-to will be built where gravel is currently. No excavation costs, no removing <br /> fill, no bringing in fill <br /> f. The driveway does not have to be improved or increased <br /> 2. Environmental <br /> a. If we add a lean-to structure, we will not need to cut any trees down. Less trees <br /> taken down is environmentally friendlier <br /> b. We would need to possibly take down five trees to accommodate a new building <br /> c. We would not need to redo the landscape around a lean-to but we would need to <br /> stabilize the disturbed soil around a new building <br /> d. The lean-to would be positioned on ground that currently is gravel. No excavation <br /> means no disturbing the surrounding environment <br /> e. No changes to the existing driveway with a lean-to <br /> 3. Neighborly <br /> a. Set back distance would be increased with a lean-to <br /> b. Can get a letter from my neighbor(the side that this lean-to would be on)stating <br /> they would prefer to see a lean-to added to our existing structure rather than a new <br /> building closer to their property <br /> c. Consistent look. A lean-to structure will match the existing building. A free standing <br /> structure has the ability to change up the materials therefore possibly creating a <br /> building with unpleasant characteristics <br /> d. A lean-to will not be able to be seen from in front of our house <br />
