The special conditions applying to the structure or land in question are peculiar to such <br /> property or immediately adjoining property. <br /> Response: The special conditions are that with an addition (lean to) to our existing building our setback <br /> distances are increased over what the could be if we were to build a new stand alone structure. This is a <br /> good neighborly gesture. <br /> 9. The conditions do not apply generally to other land or structures in the district in which said <br /> land is located. <br /> Response: As mentioned earlier, I believe that every application has to be reviewed one by one. Trying to <br /> fit everyone in Orono into "standard boxes" does not work. <br /> 10. The granting of the application is necessary for the preservation and enjoyment of a <br /> substantial property right of the applicant. <br /> Response: We are asking for a variance so that we can continue to enjoy our property in this area. This <br /> variance will allow us to have our possessions here at our home covered, secured and out of view of the <br /> public <br /> 11. The granting of the proposed variance will not in any way impair health, safety, comfort, <br /> morals, or in any other respect be contrary to the intent of the Zoning Code. <br /> Response: It will increase safety of our possessions, increase health by not having to worry about our <br /> possessions in an unsecured area, and give an overall good feeling of comfort to have our stuff here at our <br /> house <br /> 12. The granting of such variance will not merely serve as a convenience to the applicant, but <br /> necessary to alleviate demonstrable difficulty. <br /> Response: We have had to store our trailer at an outside lot away from our house.
