Site Preparation: <br /> 1. In areas with actively growing vegetation apply Roundup®herbicide or equivalent as <br /> per manufacturer's directions. Allow a minimum of 10 days before disturbing the <br /> vegetation with other procedures. <br /> 2. If possible,burn off the dead vegetation by implementing a controlled burn using <br /> appropriate procedures,equipment and permits. <br /> 3. Rake the soil to create a firm, smooth seedbed. <br /> B. Seed and Seeding: <br /> 1. Seeding dates shall be in the spring or summer before August 16th or in the fall between <br /> September 2CP and freeze-up. <br /> 2. All seed shall be applied by broadcasting. <br /> 3. In areas too steep or small,the seed shall be broadcast and naked into the soil. <br /> 4. A raking shall follow all grass seeding. <br /> 5. The seed mixes shall consist of the following species and amounts: <br /> Grasses lbs./project area <br /> Side oats grams(Bouteloua curtipendula).....................................0.25 <br /> Poverty oats(Danthonia spicata)....................................................0.5 <br /> Wild rye(Elymus virginicus) 0.25 <br /> Red fescue(Fesruca rubra)................................................................ ' <br /> Little bluestein(schizachyrium scoparium)........................................ <br /> Note: A wheat or oat cover crop can be sown along with the native grasses at a rate or approximately 25 lbs.per acre. <br /> wheattonts is an annual grass species that germinates quickly and will reduce the risk of soil erosion on the site. <br /> 1 <br />
