MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD FEBRUARY 10, 1992 <br />( #21B) SCHEDULING A COUNCIL WORK SESSION & ASSESSMENT HEARING <br />CONCERNING.THE STUBBS BAY SEWER PROJECT <br />Moorse noted that this is a request to schedule a work session with <br />the Council prior to the assessment hearing. <br />Dennis Shaw, 405 Oxford Road, requested that prior to the work <br />session; a date be set to review the alternatives for-the Oxford <br />Road area with the residents of that street, as suggested by Cook <br />In his letter to the Council dated December 1991. <br />Cook stated they still plan to meet with the homeowners, but are <br />currently taking bids and want to wait until those bids have been <br />reviewed. <br />Mayor Peterson reiterated that a defined area for the sewer project <br />has not yet been approved. <br />Cook requested an extension of the date to accept bids for the <br />project to February 28th. He noted the project has been bid'in <br />sections, so the City will have the right to accept or reject any <br />portion of the bid. <br />Jabbour requested that costs be sent to homeowners prior to the <br />assessment hearing. <br />Cook noted they will be sent out in accordance with State Statute. <br />Jabbour suggested the letter state, "if and when the project is <br />realized, here is the cost ". <br />Shaw asked how the potential shortfall resulting from appeals is <br />to be funded. <br />Jabbour noted it'would be funded by the entire City, not by raising <br />the assessment of the non- ape,llants. <br />Moorse noted the hearing has been scheduled for March 25, 1992 at <br />7:00 p.m. at the Orono Education Link. <br />Mayor Peterson directed Members to contact Moorse to establish a <br />work session date. <br />( #21C) COUNCIL CHAMBERS AUDIO /VISUAL SYSTEM <br />Moorse explained his memo outlines various alternatives to the <br />audio /visual system for the new Council Chambers. <br />Goetten pointed out that Tim Pattrin is very knowledgeable in this <br />area and suggested Moorse contact him for his input. <br />14 <br />
