s <br />r <br />MINUTES OF A REGULAR ORONO COUNCIL MEETING <br />HELD MAY 24, 1993 <br />( * #21) ESTABLISH PLANNING COMMISSION TERMS - ORDINANCE #115, SECOND <br />SERIES <br />It was moved by Hurr, seconded by Jabbour, to approve Ordinance <br />#115, Second Series to establish the Planning Commission terms. <br />Ayes 5, nays 0. <br />( #21A) SEWER PLANT PROPERTY UPDATE <br />Kelley asked each Council member their opinion of the value of the <br />property to the City. <br />Goetten said she was not against selling two lots, and reminded him <br />this sale is to help offset the cost of the new facilities. <br />Mayor Callahan believes it ought to be sold. <br />Jabbour said, "if I owned the property, I would keep it ", but <br />expressed concern that they had promised the public the property <br />would be sold to offset the cost of the new facility. <br />• Hurr stated no opinion. <br />Jabbour said he agrees with Kelley that it is important to maintain <br />open lands, and suggested they could acquire land in a more <br />desireable location. <br />Kelley asked if they would be willing to change their minds if a <br />number of the public opposed the sale. <br />Hurr stated there will still be many reminding them of their <br />promise. <br />Mayor Callahan said he is not opposed to selling the property <br />regardless of the promise to the public. <br />Moorse indicated if the subdivision is to move forward they must <br />prepare a Comprehensive Plan amendment for sewer. <br />Mayor Callahan felt they should not start the process until a price <br />for the land is arrived at. <br />Moorse stated the appraisal would be done early June. <br />Kelley questioned the need for a private road to serve the three <br />residents. <br />• Mayor Callahan stated he was not excited about going to the <br />Metropolitan Council with an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan. <br />No action required. <br />23 <br />
