From my investigation and site visit, there is a good probability the construction of the new house damaged an
existing 6" PVC storm sewer line which drains a low area on the neighboring property.
Since this was damaged due to the construction, and it is resulting in additional ponding of water in the neighboring
property, it needs to be corrected. In order to determine if the pipe was damaged during the construction of the
driveway, you will need to have the pipe televised (run a camera into it). Many plumbers have the capability of
performing this work. Please have them schedule a time with me as I will want to be on site while this work is being
performed. If the pipe was damaged with the installation of the driveway or other construction activities, you will be
required to repair the pipe.
Please contact me directly at 952-249-4661 or at Istruve@ci.orono.mn.us with any additional questions or concerns.
Jesse Struve, PE
Director of Public Works/City Engineer
City of Orono
(952) 249-4661- Direct
(952) 249-4616- Fax
www.ci.orono.mn.us
1
