MINUTES OF THE ORONO COUNCIL MEETING OF JANUARY 22, 1990 <br />• HIGHWAY 12 FRONTAGE ROADS CONTINUED <br />Councilmember Goetten asked if there was a chance that the <br />project would not proceed? <br />Bernhardson said that he was fairly sure it would proceed, <br />but there were pre- requisites MNDOT had to meet. <br />Acting Mayor Callahan asked the Council if they had any <br />objections to Bernhardson's proposal. <br />The Council indicated that they had no objections. <br />This being an informational item, there was no motion. <br />CITY RECORDER <br />City Administrator Bernhardson explained the proposal being <br />presented for the City Recorder position. <br />Councilmember Goetten believed that it would be beneficial <br />to continue with an experienced recorder. She questioned whether <br />the City would hire a part -time person? <br />Bernhardson said that he was hoping for a full -time <br />replacement due to a shortage in clerical staff. <br />• Acting Mayor Callahan said that he regretfully accepted the <br />resignation of the present recorder. <br />It was moved by Acting Mayor Callahan, seconded by <br />Councilmember Goetten, to accept the resignation of Laurie <br />Scheffler and to undertake contracting with Laurie to serve as <br />City Recorder as outlined, and additionally authorize staff to <br />seek employment for the full time secretarial position who would <br />also serve as the back up for the City Recorder position. <br />Motion, Ayes -4, Nays -0, Motion passed. <br />CITY LOGO <br />Councilmember Goetten asked from where the funding would <br />come for mailing information regarding the City Logo Contest to <br />Orono residents. <br />Bernhardson replied that at the time he prepared this memo, <br />he was hopeful that a mailing would be going out. He said that <br />will not be the case and suggested placing a notice in the paper. <br />Councilmember Peterson indicated that she would like to be a <br />contest judge. <br />Councilmember Goetten said that she too would like to <br />volunteer to be a contest judge. <br />• It was moved by Councilmember Goetten, seconded by <br />Councilmember Peterson, to accept the information being presented <br />and that the judges panel be comprised of Councilmember Goetten, <br />Councilmember Peterson, one staff person, one Park Commissioner, <br />G <br />
