Further wetland areas consideration during the routing of the golf course occurred on golf holes
' 3,5.6,9,12,13,14,16 and 18. We were fortunate to satisfactory route these golf holes so that
adjacent wetland areas became parallel to the intended line of play on the respective golf hole,
which allows a golfer to hit "away or around" and not directly `over" a hazard; resulting in a
more enjoyable golf experience.
Unfortunately,we were unable to route a portion of hole 13 to avoid the wetland, thus producing
a perpendicular cross hazard as seen by the attached exhibit. Unlike aforementioned holes, the
difference on hole 13 that exasperates the problem is we cannot control where a golfer hits their
second shot from. This is dependent on how far they advanced their tee shot down the fairway.
The second or sometimes third shot (less skilled) required to advance the golf ball over the
perpendicular cross hazard is that the golf ball is lying on the ground (not a golf tee), which
increases difficulty. The golfer then must advance his or her next shot a great distance down the
fairway, which requires a fairway wood (low loft club) to travel this distance. These two factors
of getting the golf ball airborne from the ground with a low lofted club create a very high degree
Iof difficulty for the majority of our members.
During my site visit in August of 2011, 1 watched three foursome's play the 13"' golf hole; of
which five golfers hit their golf ball into the perpendicular cross hazard on this hole. When this
occurs, the rules of golf provide some relief, that one can move closer to the hazard for their next
shot. Of these five golfers that took relief, two yet hit a consecutive shot into the cross hazard.
' We respectfully request that you take into consideration the above, and know that we strongly
desired to eliminate this perpendicular cross hazard in 1997 but were not given consent by the
' governing bodies, Our average age of member has since increased by 10 plus years and albeit
they still enjoy most that Spring Hill has to offer, the overriding negative factor is the difficulty
and unenjoyably golf experience tit hole 13.
' Best negnrdx,
thctt►i:r ''1"1.►r
U 0755.1U.'.
