MINUTES OF THE <br /> ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br /> Monday,March 18,2019 <br /> 6:30 o'clock p.m. <br /> Landgraver stated given the other landscaping and structures by the neighbors,the Rail Authority <br /> probably is in agreement. <br /> Ressler stated without redesigning it himself,the architect could perhaps bring it back to seven feet so <br /> there is some room there. <br /> Lemke moved to recommend approval of Application No. LA18-000011,Julie Lensing,3349 <br /> Crystal Bay Road as proposed,granting of a hardcover variance and a rear yard setback variance, <br /> subject to Staff recommendations. <br /> Landgraver stated the proposed setback of 1.2 inches does not account for the homeowner's need for <br /> access without trespassing on HCRRA property. <br /> Curtis indicated Staff will follow up with the HCRRA representative and will assist the applicant with the <br /> maintenance access. <br /> Landgraver seconded. VOTE: Ayes 4,Nays 2,Erickson and Ressler Opposed. <br /> 6. UPDATE ON MARCH 11,2019,CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Barnhart reported the City Council took the following actions at their March 11 meeting: <br /> • Approved the dock on Fox Street but reduced the length of the dock by eight feet. <br /> • Approved variances for 3369 Crystal Bay Road. <br /> • Approved the after-the-fact variance on Shadywood Road on consent. <br /> • The Council also reviewed the conditional use permit for the Narrows and the Lakeroom and <br /> those were approved with some modifications to the hours. The City Council did not change the <br /> live music limitations. <br /> • The Council reviewed a concept plan for an apartment building proposed by Trident <br /> Development for Willow and Kelley but they did not support it because they felt the density was <br /> too high. <br /> • Reviewed a concept plan for extending MUSA to Deering Island. The Council generally seemed <br /> supportive of that. <br /> 7. OTHER ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION <br /> Barnhart noted a volunteer to attend the next City Council meeting on April 8 is needed. <br /> Thiesse noted Commissioners Landgraver, Olson, and Lemke are attending their last meeting and that he <br /> appreciates the time they have served on the Planning Commission. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> Landgraver moved,Ressler seconded,to adjourn the Orono Planning Commission meeting at <br /> 7:49 p.m. VOTE: Ayes 5,Nays 1,Lemke Opposed. <br /> Page 12 of 13 <br />
