'fhe factors for initiating the sewer project were smaller lot sizes and non-compliant septic <br /> systems with limited replacement sites available. The residence was required to connect to the sewer <br /> system no later than February 14, 2000. Recently, the City Council adopted a resolution allowing all <br /> sewer connections to coincide with the septic system upgrade time frame. The time frame for a septic <br /> system upgrade is seven to ten years from the inspection date dependant upon the property's location. <br /> Your property�vill need to connect to the sanitary sewer system no later than December 31, 2008,which <br /> is the date your septic system was to be upgraded. A Sewer Availabitity Charge(SAC) fee�vill need to <br /> be paid to ihe City in the year the sewer connection is made. A licensed plumber must then obtain a <br /> permit from the City to make the connection from the residence to the actual sewer line. <br /> If at any time before December 3 l, 2008 the residence undergo's a remodeling project that�vill increase <br /> die total water use, the residence must then connect to the sanitary sewer system. If at any time before <br /> the above date the system is failing,the residence must then immediately connect to the sanitary sewer <br /> system. <br /> Minor maintenance can and should still be conducted on your septic system.
