#

September 13, 2005
Margazet Callahan
3265 County Rd. 6
Orono Mn 55356
Dear Sirs;
Upon your request we did an inspection on the septic system at the above residence, the
results are as follows.
- The system was installed in 1988, Permit Number 1557 from the City of Orono.
- This system consists of 2-1000 gallon septic tanks and 1200 square feet of gravity.
Trench soil treatment area.
- There does not seem to be any surfacing of sewage at this time, nor is there any
- evidence of surfacing in the past.
- The tanks appear to be of a precast construction and seem to be water-tight.
-A soil boring was done approximately 15 feet north of the first soil absorption trench.
-Mottled soil was encountered at about 36 inches below the surface.
For the system to meet currant PCA and city codes it must have a 2-foot separation from
the seasonal-grou.nd water table, or mottled soil. This system does not meet a 2-foot
setback. This setback or ground water separation is part of the currant code.
Upon emination of the records it seems as this system was installed as per the original
design by S-P Testing dated 12-5-1988.
At that time the City gave a conditional approval to install thisystem a copy of which is
attached.
Respectfully
Bob Volkenant
Volkenant Inc.
Copy: City of Orono
