The City of Orono does not require fencing around a swimming pool. I have enclosed an information sheet about fences for your reference. Your property is located within the RR-1 B Zoning District. For your property, the fence requirements are as follows: • Fences must be located within your property boundary. Make sure your property identification pin locations are known. o A StreetlSide Yard Fence (which in your case is the north boundary or Sixth Ave N) can be no taller than 42 inches tall. If a taller fence is needed, it can be up to 6 feet tall (without a permit), but then must be set back 50 feet from the property line. o A Rear Yard Fence (East) can be no taller than 42 inches tall. If a taller fence is needed, it can be up to 6 feet tall (without a permit), but then must be set back 50 feet from the property line. o A Side Yard Fence (South) can be no taller than 42 inches tall. If a taller fence is needed, it can be up to 6 feet tall (without a permit), but then must be set back 30 feet from the property line. I hope you find this information helpful.
