MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PARK COMMISSION <br />Monday, March 6, 2017 <br />6:30 o'clock p.m. <br />ROLL CALL <br />The Orono Park Commission met on the above-mentioned date with the following members present: <br />Chair Rick Meyers, Commissioners Jan Berg, Brenda Johnson, Bryce Johnson, Brian Roath, Julie <br />Ruegemer, and Natalie Williams. Representing Staff were Public Works Director/City Engineer Adam <br />Edwards, and Recorder Jackie Young. Mayor Dennis Walsh was present. Alternates Beth Meyers and <br />Rick Carter were present. <br />Chair Meyers called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />1. JANUARY 3, 2017, PARK COMNIISSION MEETING MINUTES <br />Berg moved, Brenda Johnson seconded, to approve the January 3, 2017, minutes of the Orono Park <br />Commission as submitted. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0, Roath and Wiliams Abstained. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT <br />None <br />CHAIRMAN'S REPORT <br />Chair Meyers welcomed the two new Commissioners and alternates to the Park Commission. Meyers <br />stated Adam Edwards will be distributing to the new commissioners a book of information on the City's <br />parks to assist them with their duties. Meyers requested the new commissioners contact him if they have <br />any issues or questions. <br />Meyers stated each commissioner is typically assigned a couple of parks to oversee and that the alternates <br />would be able to serve on some committees if they would like. Meyers suggested the new commissioners <br />and alternates visit the City's parks so they can become familiar with them and then e-mail or call him <br />with their top three parks they are interested in. <br />Meyers explained the duties of a park commissioner as it relates to their assigned park(s). <br />2. PARK COMMISSION ASSIGNMENTS <br />Meyers requested the new commissioners look at which parks they would be interested in helping out on <br />and to contact him with their top three choices of parks they would like to assist with. <br />Meyers noted there are also a few special subcommittees and work groups the Park Commission has, with <br />the Orono Golf Course and Big Island now being under the purview of the Park Commission. In <br />addition, the Park Commission will be hosting a grand opening at Lurton Park. Meyers stated he would <br />like to form a committee to oversee that. <br />Meyers asked if Commissioner Williams would be interested in leading that committee. <br />Williams indicated she would be. <br />Page 1 of 11 <br />
