'- / F-` v t (- EWt6t 7 - Saga Saga Hili Park Improvement Proposal for 2016: The scope of work for Saga Hill includes articulating its history and creating an informational historic marker to educate the public about its significance to the area. It also includes path signage and invasive species eradication in targeted high value areas and positioning a few benches. A Three Rivers Parks Woodlot Management and Invasive Plant type of approach with neighborhood volunteers could be included after clearing excess brush and weeds. 1. Design and install directional signs on path within the park. a. "to parking" and neighborhood areas b. Distance traveled posts 2. Design and install a sign of Saga Hill's historical significance and an overall map of park/ paths a. Determine language and creative layout of informational sign b. Measure sections of the path and layout via google maps, phone apps or other... c. Identify the non -DNR acres within the park and investigate possibility of restoring native flora. 3. Establish the Three Rivers Parks approach to 'adopt an acre to eradicate invasive species' and meet with neighbors to solicit ideas and participation in the adoption program. a. Select priority areas by identifying the evergreen and birch or other native trees to save. Identify areas where a ground hog machine can grind up the invasive buckthorn and get an estimate of costs. Determine the cost and services needed to maintain buckthorn - free results. 4. Invite neighbors to a Park Commission workshop to seek input into the Saga Hill Park Improvement Plans. Draft a proposal based on gathered information to discuss at a subsequent Park Commission meeting where neighbors will also be invited. Saga Hili neighborhood will receive notification leaflets dropped by a Park Commissioner. S. Present a proposal (goals, timeline, and costs) at a 2026 Park Commission meeting and forward/present to the City Council for approval. Other considerations: • Seek capital improvement funds if they apply to the intended improvements. • What technology is available to map the trails on the park? Would the DNR be of help? • Determine what expertise is needed to better inform restoration/preservation efforts. • Should we add a sign for Saga Hill on Hwy 13? What are the implications for neighbors?
