Parks, Trails, and Open Spaces <br /> PARK, OPEN SPACE AND TRAIL ACTION PLAN <br /> The following paragraphs describe how Orono intends to act on the goals and policies of the previous <br /> section. <br /> Park Commission <br /> The Orono Park Commission serves as an advisory body appointed by the City Council to make <br /> recommendations about park, open space and trail issues. The Park Commission's mandate as set <br /> parks and recreation areas and facilities of all kinds, including, but not limited to, problems <br /> The Park Commissions tole in park planning is to will continuously evaluate park,open space and trail <br /> facilities and community needs. This ongoing evaluation process allows for identification and <br /> prioritization of improvements; taking into account such factors as population growth, <br /> demographic changes, levels of facility use, health and safety factors, condition of facilities, <br /> special populations, adjacent land use compatibility, and life cycle recreation; invasive species <br /> removal and satisfaction of community needs. The Park Commission will monitor the parks,open <br /> space and trail systems to satisfactorily address the goals and policies of this plan. <br /> Focus Parks and Trails <br /> The Park Commission will focus on the following Park, trails, and recreational facilities. <br /> City of Orono Community Management Plan 2020-2040 Part 4E, Page 13 <br />
