CMP Part 4C. Water Supply <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> The City of Orono is required to update its water supply plan and submit to the DNR and the <br /> Metropolitan Council as part of the Comprehensive Plan update required of all metro area cities. <br /> This Chapter is intended to address that requirement. <br /> EXISTING FACILITIES <br /> General <br /> This Section Chapter provides a summary of the existing water supply,treatment, storage, <br /> and distribution facilities for the City of Orono. The City has four existing water systems: <br /> the Navarre Water System,the Highway 12 Water System,the Wayzata System Extension, <br /> and the Long Lake System Extension. The Navarre Water System is located in the southern <br /> portion of Orono. It consists of two municipal wells, a treatment facility, one elevated <br /> storage tank,and a water distribution system. The Highway 12 Water System is located in <br /> the northern portion of the City. It consists of two municipal wells, a small treatment <br /> facility including a chemical feed system, one elevated storage tank, and a water <br /> distribution system. The Wayzata System eExtends into the sion is located in the northeast <br /> portion of Orono. It consists of a distribution system that has its water supplied from the <br /> City of Wayzata. The Long Lake System Extension is a distribution system that has its <br /> water supplied from the City of Long Lake. More than 50 percent of the households in <br /> Orono receive their potable water from private individual wells. The distribution systems <br /> are comprised of watermains ranging in size from 6 to 16 inches in diameter. The existing <br /> water service area is shown in Table IC 1Map 4C-1. <br /> Water Supply <br /> The City's water is currently provided by four existing water systems. The Navarre Water <br /> System is supplied by two wells, Well 1 and 2. The Highway 12 Water System is supplied <br /> by two wells, Wells 3 and 4.
