'
' - -
AET#20-01080 -Page 5
'
' Fill
The fill at the boring locations appears to be comprised of mosfly silty sand and clayey sand with
' some sand and crushed limestone. Some of the fill soils at the surface are darker colored, but do
not appear to contain appreciable amounts of roots or other organic matter. The N-values obtained
, in the fill soils that were not frozen are variable.
"Alluvium or Fill" and "Till or FSII
At Borings#1, #2, #3 and#6, soils exist below the fill which are classified as "Alluvium or Fill"
' and "Till or Fill" because their geologic origin could not be determi.ned from the limited samples
obtained. Tb.ese soils could be naturally deposited alluvium and/or till, or they could be
' reviously placed fill. Further observation of these soils, either during excavation for the building
P
or prior to that with test pits, is recommended to better determine their geologic origin. The N-
' ues in these soils are generally low to moderately low, but closely resemble the N-values
val
' obtained in the naturallY dePosited till or alluvial soils in Borings #4 and#5 at similar depths.
' Alluvium
These soils consist of coarse alluvial sands and silty sands; fine alluvial clays and silts; or mixed
' alluvial clayey sands. Based on the N-values, the coarse alluvial sands and silty sands are loose
to medium dense. The clays and clayey sands range in consistency from soft to stiff. The alluvial
' siits range from loose to medium dense.
'
These soils consist of clayey sands, silty sands and sandy lean clays. They usually contain a little
, gravel, but could also contain cobbles and boulders. Some of these soils are described as
weathered till, wluch are somewhat softer and weaker as they have undergone some degradation.
The weathered till soils are not as consolidated as the underlying till soils.
