 _
AET#20-01080 - Page 3
'
, PROJECT INFORMATION
' We understand the proposed construction will be a single-story, unheated salt storage building in
the northeast corner of the Hennepin County Department of Transportation complex in Orono.
' We understand the building will not be enclosed, but will be open to the south to allow access for
loaders and trucks. The buildi.ng will have approximate overall di.mensions of 60' by 120'.
' Finished floor of the building will be at elevation 944.33.
, The buildin will have recast concrete wall panels(20' high)azound the perimeter and within the
g P
inside of the building supported on continuous strip footings. Individual column footings will be
used to support the beams and the roof at the front (south) side of the building. The roof will
consist of precast planks. The inside of the building will have a gravel or soil surface (no
concrete). Cast-in-place concrete retaining walls will extend south from the southeast building
corner and west from about the middle of the west building line. Based on the stuctural
information, we estimate the bearing wall loads will be less than 5 kips per linear foot of wall and
, the maximum column loads will be less than 100 kips.
, Our foundation design assumptions include a m;n;mm factor of safety of three with respect to
localized shear or base failure of the foundations. We assume the new structures will be able to
, tolerate total settlements of up to 1" and differential settlements over a 30' distance of up to li". '
, The project information presented in this report represents our understanding of the proposed construcdon.
This information is aa integral part of our engineering review. It is importani that you contact us if there
, are changes from the information described so we can evaluate whether modifications to our
recommendarions aze apprapriate.
' .
' r
 .
