MEMO 0 CpY

August 23, 2011
TO: The City of Orono, Melanie Curtis
RE: Erosion Control Plan, Good Shepherd Church project
FROM: Dave Owen
Melanie;
Attached is our Erosion Control Plan that includes the use of a Bio-Roll to control the runoff. After an
on-site review with an erosion control contractor, and separately with Steve Christopher(MCWD), it
was felt that a Bio-Roll was the best solution for erosion control at our site. Steve supports this
approach. With our heavily treed site, including many sensitive Oak trees on the down slope, it was
felt that"knifing" an erosion fence into the ground between the trees, and having to cut many roots
would likely have an adverse effect on the trees. Also, just being able to "knife"the fence into the
ground with all the tree roots would be difficult.
This is a fairly quick turn project and we expect the construction to be completed in 5 to 7 weeks
(weather permitting, as always with construction). I hope the City finds this form of erosion control
acceptable. Please let me know if there aze any questions.
Thank you.
RECEIVED
AUG 2 3 2011
CITY OF ORONO
