. � <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: MAYOR WHITE AND COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> MANAGEMENT TEAM <br /> FROM: LIN VEE, CITY CLERK <br /> SUBJECT: DAKOTA RAIL REGIONAL TRAIL GR.AND OPENING <br /> DATE: MAY 12, 2009 <br /> Barbara Fisher of the Three Rivers Park District has inquired if the City and/ox City Council has any <br /> interest in being direcd��involved in the grand opening events for the Dakota Rail Regional Trail to � <br /> be held on June 20 from 10:00 am—3:00 p.m. <br /> Ms. FisheY has been working with cities, businesses,libraries, the post office and Metro Transit to <br /> featuxe attractions along the trail. One of the components of the grand opening will be an event <br /> center south of the transit station in Mound where several tents will be located, such as: <br /> • The Wayzata Chambex of Commerce will be hosting a tent with the Minnetonka Center fox <br /> the Arts providing children's craft activities and the Wayzata Chamber distcibuting bags with <br /> business information and coupons for the Wayzata area. <br /> • The Three Rivers Pazk District will host a tent with representatives from various <br /> departments in the Park District and an axea for meeting elected officials. Refreshxnents will <br /> also be provided. <br /> The'I hree Ri�Ters Paxk District Board Chair will be mailing a letter to all elected officials in the area <br /> inviting them to join in the festivities at the Three Rivers Park District tent. This will be an <br /> opportunity far elected officials to m� and mingle with the public. Elected officials could stop by <br /> for a few minutes or spend the whole day at the event center. Depending on the weathex, the Paxk <br /> District is expecting 500-700 trail usexs on the day of the event. <br /> Council is asked to discuss their level of interest in participating in the Dakota Rail Regional Trail <br /> grand opening events. <br />
