CITY OF ORONO MEMORANDUM <br />DATE: March 20, 2018 <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Jeremy Barnhart, AICD, Community Development Director <br />RE: Planning Commission Interviews <br />The City has received 5 applications to fill the vacancies resulting from three Planning <br />Commissioners serving their maximum terms. The five applicants are: <br />Dennis Libby, James Seals, Mark McCutcheon, Bob Erickson, and Jon Ressler. <br />A short questionnaire has been sent to the applicants with the 6 questions below, requesting <br />responses by noon on Monday, March 191h. Once received, these responses will be forwarded <br />to Council members. <br />1. What is your understanding of the role of a planning commissioner? <br />2. What interests you most about this position? <br />What do you think will be your biggest challenge in this position? What is your <br />biggest concern? <br />4. How do you feel about regulating your neighbors? <br />5. Describe your understanding of the City's Comprehensive Plan and zoning <br />regulations. <br />6. Describe your experience with the zoning review process —variance, <br />CUP, site plan review, or writing code amendments. <br />From the responses, the Council is asked to ask a few follow up questions of the <br />Commissioners and score the applicants based on the following table. Ultimately, <br />the Council will be asked to vote on the new membership at their regular meeting <br />on March 20tH <br />
