Most if not aii of the
larger buckthorn (stumps 1 S" or greater) should be treated the first winter of
management(2012-2013).
Management Plan Schedule:
• Fall of 2012—Foliar spray of small buckthom and spray of any garlic mustard-
Wirtter of 2012-2013 —Cut and stump treat all buckthom 1 S" diameter or greater
• Spring of 2013—Spray garlic mustard
• Fa112013—Foliar spray of smatl buckthorn and spray of any garlic mustard
• Spring of 2014—Spray garlic mustard
• Fa112014—Foliar spray of small buckthorn and spray of any garlic mustard
Once the buckthom and garlic mustard aze eliminated the area should be lightly tilled and
re-seeded with a native seed mix (mesic forest short-grass/forb mix). Native shrubs/trees
can be planted as well,if desired by the landowner.
The buffer will be maintained with standard practices such as occasional mowing and
herbicide treatment. A full management plan will be developed by the seeding
contractor.
If you have any questions regarding this project, or need additional information, please
do not hesitate to call me at 612-237-5996.
Thank you,
Ben Carlson
Ben Carlson,WDC
EcologisdOwner
Arrowhead Environmental Consulting
ARROWHEAD ENVIRONIVIENTAL CONSULTING
29ov MEnvow
MOUND,MN 55364
  612-237-5996
www.armwheadec..cm
