I am enclosing a copy of the pertinent Orono zoning code sections as well as
documentation from a similar application processed by the City in 1995, to give you a sense of the
review process.
Regarding your submittal, the following items are lacking:
1. T'he correct fee is$175.00(Residential Accessory Use).Please remit the remainder($100.00)
as soon as possible.
2. The property owners list must be submitted by eaxly next week, as we have discussed.
3. Please show on the plan the diameter, length and material for the pilings to be used.
I have sketched the proposed construction as I interpret it, on a copy of your survey (attached).
Please advise if this is a correct interpretation of your proposal.
City files contain a permit for the boathouse which was constructed in 1961. In reviewing City
airphotos from 1955, 1968, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1989 and 1994, it appears unlikely that the deck
platform you wish to'reconstruct' actually ever existed. I do not know why the pilings are in place,
perhaps they were used as posts to tie a boat to.
In my conversation with Greg Nybeck yesterday,he indicated the maximum width of dock LMCD
will allow is 6'. The plan you submitted to us indicates two 4' x 10' entry sections and a 10' x 32'
platform over the water, which Nybeck indicates LMCD will not approve. I would be pleased to
meet with you and Greg on the property to review your plans next week if possible, so that you can
revise them if necessary to meet LMCD standards.
Telephone (612) 473-7357 • FAX 473-0510
