Access to data by indIvidual. Upon requesc to a respoasibte aerhoriry,an individual shall be informed whether he is the subject af s�ored data on individuals,and whe[her it is classified as public,privac�or confidential. Upon his further request,an individual who is the subjecc of stored private or public data on individuals shall be shown che dara a•i�out any c'aarge to him and;if he desires,shall be informed of che content and meaning of chac daca. After an indiiidual has been shown ehe priva;�dan and i�iormed of its meaaing,the data need not be disclosed to him for six monttu chereaiter unless a dispute or acrion pursuant to this secrion is p�nding or addiaonal data on the individuai has been collecud or creaced. The responsible auchoriry shal!provide copies of the privace or public daca npon reques:by the individual subject of the data. 'Ihe responsible auchoriry may require che requesring person to pay the actual costs of makin¢,cerying,and compiling the copies. The responsible authoriry shall comply immediacely,if possibi=,wich any r.quest made pursuant to this subdivision,or wi[hin five days of the date of the request,excluding Saardays,Sundays and legal holidays,if immediace compliance is not possibte. If he cannot comply wich the request wi�hin chac time,he shall so inform che individual,and may have an addidonal five days within which to comply wich che request,eactuding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays. Subd.4. Procedure when data is not accurate or complete. An indivitual may contesc the accuracy or completeness of public or private dara conceming himself. To exercise chis ri¢ht,an individual shail noafy ia wridng dio respansible authoricy describing�he namre of the disagreemenc. The responsible au�horiry shall within 30 days ei[her: (a)correct the daa fcund to be inaccurate or incomplete and aaempt to nodfy past recipiencs of inaccurdce or incomplete data,including recipients named by the individi:al;oc(b)eodfy the individual that he believes[he data to be cormc. Data in dispu�e shall be disctosed oniy if the individual's statemenc of disagre��=nc is i.clidad wi[h[he disclosed dara.
