The exisnng faundation£ooiprinfi is approximatety 2b'-p" by 30'-0". <br /> The basecnent has a slab-on-grade concrete floar. There is an exisEing wood beam and <br /> mlumn line supported by existing spread £ootings below each column. <br /> OBSERVATIQATS AN�CQ�V�,A�iENTS <br /> 1. The #oliowing in#ormation was obtained thro�zgh a sitc inspec#ian on December 4, <br /> 2bQ7 by Dan Sargeant, PE and Nick Hanson af Ulteig: <br /> a. The existing foundaHon walls were constructed of 6-inch high by 24inch long <br /> concrete masonry blocks. It was assumed that the block extended 12-inches <br /> deep, but could not be veri£ied at the riume of inspection. The rrvva[ls measured <br /> 79 inches in height from the top of slab to the top o#ja�st bearing. The walls <br /> showed minor signs af cracking in various spots around the perimeter. A �/4' <br /> wide vertical crack could be s�en at the front wall, approxinnately 3'-0" in <br /> from each of the side wa[ls. <br /> b. A new point ]oad will be indu�ed at the front wall approximate�y 3'-0" in <br /> frozn each side wail. The point loads will suppar# the new second floor <br /> framing and roof trusses spanning 2fi'-0" each at the front o#tE�e house. <br /> c. The exis#ing wvood framed superstructure will be li#ted off the existing <br /> foundahon and the fop three courses wilt be removed. One cours� of 6" <br /> concrete �tock witl be a�tded zvith grout and anchor I�otts instalIed. A new har�d <br /> framed zvaIt, b�others, u?idI be c4rrstraccted orr top of fhe new btock. �"he neu>height of <br /> the basement wuils witl be �ryproximately 5'-4". As required by the Cit� of Orono, <br /> the existing basement u�iI[he rnmpleteIy t�ackfilIed. The contracotor wilI plr�ce a new <br /> sIav-on-grade as the rrew f rst-leve! floor. Sections o£ the �iasement floor slab were removed allowing for the concrete <br /> strip foo�ing to be inspected. The footing appeared eo be approximai�ly 8- � <br /> inches deep. The strip foaEing was appmximately 4 to 5-inches beyond the <br /> concrere blo�k foundation watl on the inside. <br /> e. The soit appeared Eo be fairly silty in nature, and the watex table was <br /> observed to be at th� faoting elevation.
