All fire alai�n systems,voluntary or required by Minnesota State Building Code(MUBC) or � ! � <br /> Minnesota State Fire Code (MUFC) shall be installed and maintained as per National Fire Protection � <br /> Association(NFPA)72 and 72E, 1996 edition,National Electrical Code and manufacturers <br /> requii•ements. <br /> 2. Permits are required for all fire alarm system installations. Permits can be obtained from the City of <br /> Orono - Building Official at, 2750 Kelly Parkway Orono, MN or via phone(952) 249-4600. <br /> Pei-�nits are also available online at: «�ww.ci.orono.mn.us <br /> 3. Two sets of plans and specification sheets shall be submitted to the Orono Fire Marshal for approval <br /> at least 7 �vorl:in<� da��s befoi-c start of installation and shall inelude: <br /> �r�cificztinn data sheets on all componcr.ts �f s� ��r���. <br /> .,. .���or pians indicating locati��ns of dcviccs, �re�larin cu�i.r�l pdri��, :,�b-pu��.zls �� :r.:;ponct:;.�, <br /> enunciator, interconnecting wiring and zoning. <br /> c. Power connections including source and branch circuit data. <br /> d. Type of back up power system. <br /> e. Fire alarm control panel shall be compatible with all devices. <br /> £ All components of the system shall be UL or FM listed for their applications. Smoke <br /> detectors shall be listed for commercial/industrial use. <br /> 4. All systems shall be addressable. Smoke detectors shall be photo-electric.No combination <br /> burglar/fire alarm systems are allowed unless approved by the Orono Fire Marshal. <br /> 5. Power supply for the system shall include battery back-up with a UL listed fire alarm panel. Alarm <br /> verification is required for all systems using smoke detectors. <br /> 6. The alarn7 system shall be audible above the ambient noise level in all areas of the building. <br /> Audio/visual signaling devices are required. <br /> 7. When central station notification is required ar provided it must be through a UL or FM listed <br /> communicator or control panel. <br /> 8. If a smoke detecting system installed in the tenant space of a building is directly connected to the <br /> building fire alarm panel,then <br /> a. A aone on the alarm panel inust identify the tenant space or zone of the building that the <br /> system is located(i.e., second floor,west wing). <br /> b. A visual annunciation light shall be installed on the corridor side of the main door of the <br /> tenants space and activate when the detection system in the tenants space activates. <br /> 9. The system shall be tested in the presence of the Orono Fire Marshal for final approval. <br /> Appointments can be made by calling the Fire Marshall at(952)473-9701, <br /> 24-hours notice is requested. The test will include: <br /> a. Random testing of system devices. <br /> b. Random te_;ti:�-, ��r�•r;±:.i,-,�.;,���.;�-'-, � ' � .' � <br /> c. Correct opeiation o[eack-up pow�� �y��c���. � <br />
