C'OF pRONO
Orono Mayor James White
P.O. Box 86
Orono, MN 55356
Dear Mayor White:
I am very concerned the natural drainage of water from my yard may be
blocked by the construction of the a home being built by Stephen longman
Builders at 2118 Shadywood Rd. South of my home. The raising of the grade
about three feet seems to create a dam which I fear will alter the past natural
drainage causing future water runoff to pond on my property.
The original home at 2118 was built in 1914,and established the grade. I bought
my home at 2106 Shadywood Rd. over 20 years ago. Since I have owned my
home, I have never had any standing water on my property.
I understand the current plan is to put in a culvert and reroute the water runoff
from my property to County Road 19.The Orono city engineer has expressed
concern that if this cuivert becomes clogged, the water runoff wili pond on my
lot.A natural surface drainate seems a better solution allowinthe surface
water to run off naturallv unencumbered.
If the City approves the current proposed solution utilizing a culvert to drain the
water runoff, should this culvert become blocked and water is ponded on my
lot, l respectively request written guarantees from the City of Orono it wili be
corrected at no expense to me, or future owners of my property.
Sincerely,
i. ` . >c
WIlam J. Sime,Jr.
