, ' Limbra: Re: Re: Page 2 of 3
it, it's somethinq you "earned" by outsmarting your neiqhbor.
' I'm sick of haning a property barrier down there. Even aside from it being
a physical manifestation of your trickery, it's not attractive to me and I
don't understand why it is to you. And contrary to your beliefs, those
bricks aren't what's keeping your yard free of creeping charlie. So what I
wanted to do was to let the grass grow 2-3 inches higher along the bricks.
The bricks become much less visible from my side that way. So if you'd
1 kindly refrain from trining my side, and let the grass grow a little, that
would be great. You'd be able to see the wall bright and glarinq from your
side, and it would be closer to invisible from mine. Win-win. That's a
friendly neighbor solution.
My other thought was to plant a new hedge down there. This time I'll make
sure it's on my property, not as close to the line as the rest of it. Maybe
we need more of a divider between us, anyways. I'm starting to think a new
hedqe would be better than even undisturbed lawn.
In March I'm going to prune down the rest of the hedges on my property to 6
inches off the ground. Just like I did on the other side. if you look,
you'll see that the lilacs over there are many hundreds of times more thick
and lush than the were a couple years ago. The hedge is tired and old. It
wants to be fresh, new growth from underneath. With the lilacs on the other
side of my property, you used to be able to just walk through them, but now
you can't even see through them! The reason i was so angry you'd pruned on
my property a few weeks back (and why I reported it to the police before you
got to the driveway pa=t) was because i'm letting them grow out this season
so the root system is as healthy as possible. That will ensure the best
qrowth in the spring, after they are pruned down to 6 inches while dormant.
Naturally, I'll only prune that part of the hedge that's on my property.
You may want to check after l do it, because I'm anticipating this
(infrequent, but possible) problem: If a limb begins on your property, and
crosses over onto mine at 3 feet hiqh, then I can only cut it where it
crosses, at 3 feet high. That limb is more likely to die, unless it's cut
down to 6-12 inches. (If it's cut to 6-12 inches of the ground, it will
grow back strong and hardy, but if you cut at 3 feet, it's more likely to
become dead wood. The plant can only send out new shooters/suckers and
reinviqorate itself if it's low--or at least, it's got a better chance that
way. So anyways, what i'm saying is that I'll get everything down to 6-12
inches on my property, but since I can't prune what's on your property, you
might want to look for branches that Z've cut higher than that so you can
prune them down to 6 inches on your side yourself.
Thanks,
Troy
-----Original Message-----
From: seabolt1800@mchsi.com '
Sent: Saturday, September 21, 2013 9:05 AM
To: Troy Ehlers
Subject: Re:
Troy,
As you may recall, a few years aqo i reset the brick line between our lawns
approximately 2 to 3 inches in my direction so that the bricks were not
directly on the line but on my property by 2 to 3 inches. At that time you
asked me what I was doing and I gave you that explanation. So, I believe
that when I run the trimmer on the top of the bricks that I am trimming my
lawn on both sides of the bricks. I've never had a survey done, but this is
my impression. If this is that important to you, feel free to hane survey
done at your expense and prove that I'm wrong. I'll move the bricks again.
If at the end of the line, beyond the bricks, I trimmed too far over, please
accept my humble apology. It won't happen again. Please know that in the
years you have lived next door to us, I can say that I have never
intentionally done anythinq to annoy you or damage your property. I(eep in
mind, you on the other hand were unable to deny doinq the damage done to our '
property in the attaChed picture.
My goal has always been to get along with my neighbors. You sure seem to go
out of your way to make that difficult.
Doug
https://mail.mchsi.com/zimbra/h/search?su=1&si=11&so=50&sc... 9/28/2013
