1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br /> A. Weather Conditions: Proceed with Work only when existing and forecasted weather <br /> conditions will permit Work to be installed in compliance with manufacturer's recommendations and when <br /> substrate is completely dry. , <br /> 1.7 EXTRA MATERIALS <br /> A. Deliver extra materials to Owner. Furnish quantity of full-size wood shakes equal to 2 percent of amount insta.11ed. <br /> 1.8 WA,RRANTY <br /> A. Special Project Warranty: Submit a written warraiity,executed by manufacturer,agreeing <br /> to repair or replace wood shingles that fail in materials orworkmanship within the specified warranty period. <br /> Failures include,but are not limited to,deformation or deterioration of shakes beyond normal weathering. <br /> This warranty shall be in addifion to,and not a limitation of,other rights the Owner may have against the <br /> Contractor under the Contract Documents. <br /> 1. Wazranty period shall be 20 years after date of Substantial Completion. <br /> PART2-PRODUCTS <br /> 2.1 MANUFACTURERS <br /> A. Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements,manufacturers offering <br /> wood shakes that may be incorporated in the Work include,but are not limited to,the following: <br /> B. CERTI-LABLE <br /> 2.2 WOOD SHAKES <br /> A Use Certi-Lable Cedar Shakes type Certi-Split Handsplit Shakes,Blue Label,(Number 1 <br /> Grade)24"x 1/2"installal by a Shingle Bureau("CSSB'�approved installer.Proper application plays a large <br /> role in determining roof system integrity. <br /> Fasteners: Two nails (only) for each Certi-label shake-approximately 3/4 from edge and <br /> approximately 1-1/2" above exposure line. Each Certi=label shake should be applied with two <br /> corrosion-resistant fasteners, such as stainless steel(type 304 or 316), hot-dipped zinc coated, or <br /> aluminum nails or other fastener as accepted by your local building of�'icial. <br /> Fasteners shall be long enough to penetrate into the sheathing at least 3/4"or a11 the way through the <br /> driven flush with the surFace of the Certi-label shake. <br /> Felt:The bottom edge of the felt should be positioned above the butt of the shake at a distance equal <br /> to twice the weather e�cposure.
