Point Load On Existing Spancrete Plank
Betty Roman Residence, Orono, MN
Dear Sir :
Based on the physical description of the Spancrete plank in this
residence that we received from Mr. Dave Harrison, an analysis was
done to determine the ability of the plank to support a point load
of 4500 lbs . located 10 ' -0" from the bearing end. The enclosed
calculations verify that the plank has sufficient capacity to
support this additional loading.
These calculations assume that the original superimposed design
loads required were 20 psf dead tpartition) load and 40 psf live
load - typical criteria for this type of structure. Also, the
distribution width for the new point load was conservatively
restricted to two plank widths ( 6 ' -8" ) to represent a worst
possible condition.
Please call if you have any questions .
Sincerely,
 .
